Whether you're wrapping up a project, switching roles, or simply need someone else to manage the board, this guide will walk you through the process of transferring board ownership to another team member or collaborator.

1. Click Share in the top right of the board

2. Click on the list of Current editors

3. Click the arrow next to the person you'd like to make the new owner

Then choose "Make [Name] the owner of this board".

FAQs

When is board ownership important?

If you are leaving your company or need to retain work from an account that is being closed, you can transfer ownership to prevent things from getting lost accidentally.

I need access to a board I don't own, is that possible?

Milanote's support team can't grant access to a board that you're not the owner of.

If you've lost access to your email and you have a pro account, we can use your billing details to verify your account ownership.

  • Ownership is determined by the verified email on the account, which is currently labelled the owner of the board.

  • Only people on Pro plans can request that we manually transfer ownership to a different email, by first verifying that they are the cardholder for the original account.

Can someone copy a read-only board that is shared with them?

Yes, if a board is shared with you, anyone who has access can duplicate it to make an editable copy.
