Simple formatting options for Note cards

Updated over a week ago

Milanote's text formatting options are deliberately minimal. They're designed to help you focus on the content rather than how it looks. But when you do need extra formatting there's an easy set of options in the toolbar.

Text styles

To customize the size and style of your text, highlight a block of text and then select the Text style option in the toolbar. This displays the text style options.

Text and highlight color

To change the color or highlight some text, press the Text style button in the toolbar, and choose your preferred color from the Color or Highlight menus.

Once applied, you can remove a color or highlight by selecting your text and applying Milanote's default color from the Color section of the Text style menu.

List styles

Add simple bullet or numbered lists to a Note card. Just highlight your text and choose a list option from the toolbar. Press 'Tab' to indent a list item and 'Shift + Tab' to un-indent it.

Colored and transparent notes

You can change or remove the background from a Note card.

  1. Select the note

  2. Click on the Card color option in the left-side toolbar

  3. Choose a color

  4. Select the checkerboard icon to apply a transparent background

  5. Choose white to reset to the default background

Code blocks

Code blocks are a great way to share or save a snippet of code as a reference. Here's how to create one:

  1. Drag out a Note card from the toolbar

  2. Select Text style in the toolbar

  3. Select "Code block" from the text styles menu. You can extend a code block by dragging the bottom right of the card.

Convert text into a link

Highlight the text you want to link from, click the link icon in the toolbar, and paste the URL in the link field and press Enter.
