Updated over a week ago

This guide shows you how to install and use the Milanote Web Clipper for Firefox. If you use Chome, visit Milanote Web Clipper for Chrome or if you use Safari, visit Milanote Web Clipper for Safari.

In this guide:

How the Web Clipper works

The Milanote Web Clipper is a free browser extension that lets you save images and text directly to your boards from any website. See it in action here...

Install the Web Clipper in Firefox

  1. Log into your Milanote account in Firefox

  2. Choose "Add to Firefox"

Clip images

Once the clipper is installed, you'll see a "Save" button in the top left corner of images when you move your mouse over them.

Find an image you want to save

  1. Roll over an image on any website

  2. Click Save

  3. A window will appear on the right showing your clipped image

Next, choose where to save the image

You can choose to save your image to one of your ten most recently viewed boards by clicking the arrow next to the Save to Home button.

Clip text

To clip text, highlight a selection and right-click it, then choose Save to Milanote. The text will be added to the web clipper. Again, you can choose which board you'd like to save the text to.

Enable text clipping shortcut

You can also enable a text clipping shortcut to appear whenever you select a block of text. With this button enabled, you won't need to right-click and save text.

  1. Right-click on the Milanote icon that appears in your browser bar

  2. Choose Options

  3. Click Enabled selected text pinner button

Next time you select a block of text, a Milanote icon will appear to the left of the text selection. Click the icon to save your selection to the Web Clipper.

Uninstalling the Web Clipper

  1. Right-click the Milanote icon in your toolbar

  2. Choose Remove Extension...

  3. In the confirmation window, click Remove

Troubleshooting

When I click the "Save" button on text or an image, it just tells me to log in!

This indicates that you are not currently logged into the web clipper. You can log in from the popup window provided, or by right-clicking the Milanote extension icon in the top right of your browser, and choosing "Manage Extension".

This will open the web clipper's login screen. Login with your Milanote account credentials and you will be able to save items to your account.

It's not giving me the option to save to my preferred board!

The list in the web clipper contains your ten most recently visited boards. If the board you'd like to save to doesn't appear there, just open it up in Milanote, and then refresh the page you're clipping from. You'll see it show up on the list!

Nothing I save is appearing in my board!

You'll want to double-check that you are logged into the same Milanote account in both the Milanote app and the Milanote Web Clipper.

From the Milanote app, you can see which account you are logged in with by clicking on the Settings icon โš™๏ธ in the top right corner of your board.

To check which account you are logged into the web clipper with, just right-click on the Web Clipper icon and choose "Manage Extension":

This will open a screen showing which account you have logged into the Web Clipper:
