Documents in Milanote are great for when you want to write a lot of content. You might be drafting an article, writing a novel or even summarising research. They have all the same formatting options as a Note, but more space to focus on your text.
Create a Document
Documents are easy to create
Drag a Document out from the left-hand toolbar
Give it a name (you can change this at any time)
Press Enter
Double-click the Document and start writing
Convert an existing note into a Document
When a note card becomes too long, you can convert it into a Document.
Right-click on a Note
Choose Convert to Document
When Note cards get to a certain length, Milanote will ask if you want to convert it into a Document. If you don't see this alert, make sure you have "Show Helpers" turned on in the Settings menu.
Export a Document
Documents can also be exported, independent of the rest of your board. Use the Export menu at the top right of the document.
You can export your Document in various formats:
PDF
Word document
Markdown
Plain text
Display a document preview
When a document is on your board, you can choose to display it as an icon (default view) or display a preview of its content as below.
Select a Document in your board
Select the "Card View" option in the left-hand toolbar

Can I add images or drawings to a document?
No, currently, Documents are like Notes and are just for text.

Can multiple users edit a Document at the same time?
That's currently not possible.
How are Documents in Milanote different from Word docs?
Documents in Milanote behave a bit like Word documents, but they exist inside your board for easy collaboration. When editing a document, you can convert your writing into a Word format using the export menu.
